Char's Birthday Dinner

Birthdays in our family have always been special. If we didn't have a party with all of our family and close friends then Mom would make the meal of your choice and pull out your baby book and embarrass you with stories from when you were little.
Char's birthday was no different. Her favorite foods; roasted sweet potatoes and cauliflower, coleslaw, mashed potatoes and grilled beef tenderloins. Mom read to us from her baby book as we sat around the table remembering when we were kids and life was all about having fun.

Black Cap Picking

We cut wood for a man on this beautiful land, and a few weeks ago while we were cutting wood, we realized there were tons of berry bushes. So we asked if we could pick them. AND now here we are picking berries. It was a perfect day for it. The wind was chilly and the sun was hot. Such a peaceful day.

Mulberry Pie

I had never had mulberries until this summer, when my pet tree turned out to be a mulberry tree! I have been trimming a tree that just volunteered itself in the yard a couple of years ago just to try my hand at some tree trimming. Turned out this year, to my surprise, it had berries! They taste delicious. With so many ripe berries, I decided to make a pie. And it was good! Such a simple pie, and a wonderful recipe from Quinn of Reformation Acres  http://onjustacoupleacres.blogspot.com/2011/07/mulberry-pie-recipe.html

Just three simple ingredients for the filling: mulberries, flour and sugar.

Birthday Dinner

Our older brother, Sammy, wanted to celebrate his 28th birthday by having dinner at Signatures ( a local 5 star restaurant). All of us sisters decided to take him out on Friday night. We all dressed up on what felt like the hottest day of the year. It's hard to feel pretty when you sweat your make-up off 2 min after you applied it! The food, drinks, conversation and desserts were wonderful! Our waitress THE BEST! We drove up to Garvin Heights look out. The most breath taking view we've seen in a long time. Over all it was definitely an enjoyable evening.
